Regni Veg. (1907). Type Sumatra. Note, I am using Warburg’s original type spelling, not D. subulata as used by (Rintz 1980) see: http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/233627#page/393/mode/1up . Stem glabrous, roots nodal and adventitious, Leaves flat-ovate or elliptical, 5- 7 x 2- 3 cm glabrous, apex acute, with a pair of veins parallel to the mid vein. On Maxwell’s Hill, flower corollas are entirely cream coloured, on the Genting Highland plants, the tubes are cream or pink with pink lobes. There are two subspecies, subulata (note Ridley’s new spelling) and angustata. A true ant garden inhabitant according to (Kaufmann 2002). Habitat/ Range. Malaya where it is common in mountain forests throughout the peninsula but only in the understory. Also Sumatra Island.
