Derrick
Near the tip of Cape York Peninsula, hence not far from New Guinea across Torres Strait, Hydnophytum moseleyanum was often perched very low in riverine forests growing on very poor sandstone derived soils. Here the myrmecophyte guilds also contained Dischidia major, Lecanopteris sinuosa and Myrmecodia platytyrea subsp., antoinii as well as a few xerophytically hardy orchid species.
