Andreas Wistuba
During our trip we found a species of Hydnophytum that seems to be a new species to me. The fruit resembles that of Hydnophytum wilkinsonii, but the thorny caudex, arrangement of entry holes and the cordate/round leaves of fertile branches seems to be unique to me. Younger, non flowering branches have much more narrow leaves! This heterophyllous growth also seems to be unique to me. Growth and arrangement of entry holes reminds a lot of Squamellaria. The flower resembles that of Hydnophytum but I've yet to dissect one in order to be 100% sure it's not a new Squamellaria:
Derrick
This certainly is 'something' different. Without doubt, its flowers need to be checked for squamellae. A tuber dissection may also provide very valuable insights. Lots of possibilities here.
