Hydnophytum formicarum. An Australian record.

Recommended Posts

Boigu Island sits near better known Saibai Island, both being Australian islands in Torres Strait with Saibai sitting only 4 k from New Guinea.  This plant survey lists both Hydnophytum moseleyanum subsp moseleyanum and H. formicarum as being resident there.

Hi Derrick,

I would take such records with some doubts.

Floral inventories often are done by very few people or are the result of a diploma or PhD thesis. At least they cannot have a specialist for every single group in boat.

I came across completely weird results when it came to Nepenthaceae and thus when seeing results that seem strange I am very cautious.

All the best

Andreas
