Andreas Wistuba Posted February 18, 2014 Report Share Posted February 18, 2014 Hello all, as I know several of our members are not just interested in taxonomy of ant plants, but also grow them, I thought that it's nice to have a little corner where we can offer or search seeds or plants. In order to keep level of commercialization as low as possible I thought about the following rules, however I'm open to feedback if you would like to have them modified: Members only - the exchange area is visible to members only. No replies - In order to avoid any negotiations in public, replies are not possible. If a member offers seeds or plants, you have to contact this member privately. This avoids having to repeat the same response to questions over and over again. However, a rule to keep negotiations restricted to a private message could be in affect. Dear Acro, the idea is to keep the level of commercialisation low on this forum. Also, when 2 members interact about a swap or trade, that's their business IMHO. I will add that the most active plant and animal forums (I am a member of) have very active sale/trade/free sections. I'm just offering ideas to help the ant plant forum grow and thrive. What are the laws/rules if some one from an other country would like to swap fruits with some one in Australia? I thought quarantine laws wouldn't allow this or at least make it difficult to do so. If a species is not on the list then special application must be made which is expensive and can be slow. http://apps.daff.gov.au/icon32/asp/ex_querycontent.asp There are also restrictions between Western Australia and all other States due to its differing climate in the south. Since some ant-plants are known from these families, you have to respect CITES rules for these plants. For IInd annex's plants, a cession certificate with the list of plants and the prove that they are not poached in nature is sufficient for intra-UE exchanges.
