Derrick
Open access. http://www.repository.naturalis.nl/document/565633, http://www.repository.naturalis.nl/record/525214. This is of course a very valuable source of information for those with more than a vapid interest in myrmecophytes. I bought my copies of these Blumea articles years ago, so I had little need to keep searching for this one on line. However, due to a request from a member herein, I checked to see if it was now available on the www. My search found it with just a few minutes effort, which raises a number of questions. The most important being, why has no one else in this supposed forum found and SHARED the now easy and free availability of this article? New Zealand where I now reside is noted for its many sheep, indeed there are flocks in the paddocks that surround my property, so perhaps I should be accustomed to sheep-like behaviour. However, among humans, I find the all too common trait annoying. Indeed to the degree that I am becoming quite disillusioned with forums. One of the lessons that an understanding of myrmecophytes tells us is that mutualism can be a very important survival tool. This tool is just as important in forums. If all one does is wait for the inputs of others, then you are one of the forces most inimical to mutualism and that is parasitism.
